NUMBER OF SPECIMENS

The tables below present for each issue the number of specimens (with pictures) known to me for each type, found in numismatic catalogues, on Internet or on auction sites such as Ebay. Note : this is not an exhaustive list; numerous other types are known (more than 120 types exist) but I haven’t come across any of such specimens since they are extremely rare. In any case, the idea was to illustrate the relative scarcity of the issues from Antioch rather than presenting a complete listing of all the existing types.

The second goal of this research was to study the die-links (by observing the pictures) in order to determine, for a type of reverse, in which order the coins were produced.

It should be noted that the number of Philip I specimens from the unknown Eastern mint (issues of AD 244) was not included since their production -in two issues and three officinas- has been clearly established (these issues were struck only for Philip the Arab, and present only one bust style).

You can put the cursor on green cells (for coins of Philip the Arab), yellow cells (coins of Philip II) or purple cells (coins of Otacilia Severa) to see a specimen from my collection (Note : the number of specimens indicated includes the item shown).
